Open access agreement for authors at eligible Sikt institutions
Your institution wants you to publish open access
Wiley and Sikt have an agreement which allows eligible authors to publish open access without paying an article publication charge (APC). The cost of publishing is covered under the terms of the agreement.
Corresponding authors affiliated with participating Sikt institutions may publish open access in any hybrid journal. For authors affiliated with some participating Sikt institutions, primary research and review articles are also covered in fully open access journals*. By choosing open access an article is immediately and freely available for all to read, download and share.
*subject to availability of sufficient funds or article allocations (at editorial acceptance) and subsequent approval from eligible institutions' Wiley Open Access Account holders.
If a funding request has been approved but funds/article allocations are no longer available when an article has been editorially accepted and an OA license has been signed, the author will receive an email telling them that their funding request has been denied due to funding exhaustion unless other funding arrangements for their institution are in place.

Publishing open access:
- Complies with funder or institution mandates
- Allows you to retain copyright through a CC BY license
- Enables automatic deposit in PubMed Central (when appropriate)

Check your eligibility:
- You must be the responsible corresponding authorThe responsible corresponding author is the author who manages the manuscript and correspondence during the publication process - from submission through publication. This author has the authority to act on behalf of all the co-authors and will also be the contact for inquiries after publication.who is affiliated with an eligble institution at the point of acceptance (if you are no longer affiliated with an eligible institution at the point of acceptance of your paper, you do not qualify)
- You must publish in a hybrid open access journal. Authors affiliated with some participating institutions may also publish in a fully open access journal.
- If submitting to a hybrid journal your manuscript must have been accepted for publication on or after 1 January 2026
- If submitting to a fully open access journal your manuscript must have been submitted, or accepted, on or after 1 January 2026
- Your article must be primary research or a review article. Other article types e.g. letters, editorials etc. are excluded
- This agreement cannot be used to cover additional charges (e.g. cover, color, and page charges), which individual journals administer separately
- Some institutional funding policies may differ for hybrid and/or fully open access APCs. Please check with your library for any exceptions.
